FITNESS instructor at Bridport Leisure Centre, Debbie Jones, will be holding a line dancing charity fundraising event at the centre on Saturday (8).

Debbie is a hugely popular instructor, who takes a wide variety of classes including; body conditioning, Pilates, yoga, spinning and hula hooping. This woman of many talents also has a background in line dancing!

She first started line dancing when she lived in Spain in around 2002.

Debbie said: “Being so family orientated it was always promoted as great fun for all the family. The group I danced with joined in with the traditional Spanish fiestas. Nowadays I am so busy as an instructor, I only have time to teach at parties and events”.

Debbie is in the process of fundraising for her London Marathon effort, taking place next year. She says: “Since the leisure centre had staff training to become dementia friends, I created the line dancing charity fundraiser as another way to promote this and also bring more awareness about the disease and the impact it has on family and friends."

Debbie is also holding a grand raffle. Following an appeal for donations online she has been inundated with fabulous prizes including; meals and restaurant vouchers, car MOT’s, a dog training session, fitness and swimming vouchers, an overnight stay in a glamping shack and many more amazing prizes.

Debbie adds: “I have been overwhelmed with the generosity of the people of Bridport. Special thanks goes out to everybody who has donated”.

The Line Dancing Social will be taking place at Bridport Leisure Centre on Saturday, December 8 from 10am to 1pm. You can drop in at any time and stay for 30 minutes or the whole session, entry is by donation.

There will be unlimited tea and coffee and any donations of cake will be gratefully received.
