A SMOKING hot gypsy band is heading back to Dorset for another rural tour.

Budapest Café Orchestra (BCO) will perform Sultan’s House Party in Evershot, between Dorchester and Yeovil, on Thursday, November 22 at 7.30pm.

Led by the award-winning jazz violinist and composer Christian Garrick, the BCO cast an intoxicating spell on all who experience their performances, entrancing audiences with blistering czardas, grief-stricken ballads and rollicking dances. After numerous sell-out tours, this smoking hot gypsy band is heading back to Dorset to perform with Artsreach, the counties touring arts charity, for the first time since 2012!

The Budapest Café Orchestra put their own spin on traditional folk and gypsy-flavoured music from across the world. Raucous, toe-tapping Balkan and Russian numbers are combined with jazz and swing inflections whilst Klezmer, Romanian Doinas and Hungarian Czardas are awarded fresh treatments before they give way to a disarmingly beautiful arsenal of ballads.

Featuring Eddie Hession on free bass accordion, Kelly Cantlon on double bass, Chris Garrick on violin and Adrian Zolotuhin on guitar, sax and balalaika, the Budapest Café Orchestra boasts some of the country’s most revered international stars; Eddie Hession has accompanied Luciano Pavarotti, Placido Domingo and Jose Carreras, and was supreme accordion champion of Great Britain, while Chris Garrick is widely regarded as one of Europe’s most celebrated jazz violinists.

Following the release of their ninth album Sultan’s House Party, BCO are back on the road with another fantastically exciting and musically impressive show!

Artsreach co-director Yvonne Gallimore said: “Concerts by the BCO are always a hugely popular with our audiences, and we are delighted to be able to bring them back to Dorset this winter, with the support of our funders and local business sponsors Blanchards Bailey.”
