A FREE gig for the community by the community will launch Mindfest tomorrow night.

Dizraeli, a renowned musician and poet, will be headlining at the Bridport Community & Youth Centre in a gig aimed at both youth and people of all ages.

Bridport Mind Fest 2018 is an independent festival of performance, events and workshops to widen awareness and create a caring community that supports and celebrates mental health and wellbeing.

Dizraeli is coming to Bridport fresh from his recent show in Bournemouth, where with his music he shared his own journey through mental health.

Support acts include popular local bands displaying diverse skills to dance along to - with funk, soul, indie rock and hip hop from Pizza for Dogs, Psychadelephant, and DJs Victor Vector and MC Chiman 101.

Clare Smith, one of the organisers, said: "The show is for everyone, including people who might feel a bit anxious about going out. Reach out to your family and friends and bring them – this is about everyone being different and enjoying themselves. It will be a welcoming and fun night, with no alcohol. Drinks and snacks will be on sale from the Youth Kitchen, run by its members and raising funds for the Bridport Youth Centre."

Doors open at 7pm for a 7.30pm start; Dizraeli comes on at 9.30pm and the night will end with dancing to DJs.

Tickets, free or by donation to Mindfest, are available from the Tourist Information Centre (01308 424 901). See bridportmindfest.org or Facebook @bridportmindfest.
