A DUO of string performers will perform classic numbers in West Bay this weekend (17).

Swedish cellist Mats Lidstrom and acclaimed violinist Philippa Mo will perform at Sladers Yard on Saturday at 6.30pm.

The duo will perform a range of pieces including from Bach, Haydn, Bela Bartok, Reinhold Gliere, Arthur Honegger and Niccolo Paganini.

Mats is an international soloist and chamber musician who has gained a reputation for performances of great insight and virtuosity.

The Stockholm native currently lives in London, where he combines performing with teaching and composing.

He was appointed a professor at the Royal Academy of Music in 1993 and has given masterclasses at conservatories worldwide.

As a soloist, Mats has performed and recorded with some of the world's leading orchestras, along with acclaimed conductors Andre Previn, Andrew Litton, Maxim Shostakovitch and Leif Segerstam.

As a chamber musician, Mats has performed across the world and in 2013, he gave his debut at the London Barbican Hall - playing the first concerto by Shostakovitch.

His passion for neglected and beautiful music for his instrument has resulted in several highly acclaimed and award-winning CDs.

Philippa studied at the Royal Academy of Music and the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing.

She has given concertos and chamber performances all over Europe, including her acclaimed debut at the Wigmore Hall.

Philippa has also been invited to play at the Centre for Contemporary Art, Glasgow, the Barbara Hepworth Museum and The Tate St Ives in the UK and more further afield at the Ankara International Music Festival and the Lincoln Center, New York.

A champion of contemporary music, Philippa has given workshops on British music at the Central Conservatory, Beijing and at Bilkent and Hacettep Universities in Ankara, Turkey.
