THE streets of Colwyn Bay will be paved with snow this Christmas in dazzling panto Dick Whittington.

A white Christmas is on the cards for Theatr Colwyn in 12 nights of traditional vaudeville spectacle for the whole family, from Saturday, December 22.

Written by and starring seasoned veterans Libby Edwards and Stuart Loughland, expect another breathtaking showcase of expertly staged slapstick comedy, song and dance along with the added variety of magnificent puppetry, magic and illusions.

Edwards said: “Our version of Dick Whittington sticks somewhat to the traditional plot - however it wouldn’t be a Magic Light Productions panto if we didn’t steer slightly off at certain parts.

“We don’t want to reveal too much - but there will be a very festive scene that plays out involving penguins and we will be bringing snow to Theatr Colwyn!"

For anyone unfamiliar with this classic panto tale, join Dick Whittington and his trusty cat Tommy on their quest to London, where the streets are paved with gold’ as he strives to become Lord Mayor with a little help from the magical Spirit of the Bells.

Along the way, Dick and Tommy must defeat the evil Queen Rat as she plots to infest London with her rats and become Mayor herself, with the help of her slimy sidekick Otto.

Joining Edwards in the role of “baddie” Queen rat and Loughland, as the “dame” Dotty Dumpling - who will make an incredible 10 costume changes - across the evening - are newcomers professional princess Rhiannon Petrou of 'A Little Magic Parties' as Alice, Stephen Owen as Otto, as well as returning stars Steve Bloor as Dick Whittington, Lukas Kirkby as Alderman Fitzwarren and Jay Beadle as The Spirit of the Bells.

Perhaps the most exciting addition is Saiyde Wavell and Neve Ward from The Pearl Shaw School of Performing Arts, who will be sharing the role of Tommy the Cat with their amazing acrobatic skills.
