A variety of food and drink will be on offer at Kingston Maurward's open day on Sunday (24).

The Open Day and Food Fair takes place from 10am to 5pm and is free to attend. There will be a free shuttle bus from Trinity Street in Dorchester running to Kingston Maurward throughout the day.

Foodies will be able to enjoy a food terrace, Pimm’s tent, and cider bar.

Last year’s event attracted more than 10,000 people and centres around the 18th century mansion house and its 750 acre estate, terrace, lake and gardens.

This year will celebrate 100 years of the formal gardens or for family fun go to the animal park for circus skills, bouncy castle, soft play area and even guinea pig fishing!

Enjoy live music – including the winners from the recent Facebook competition to find new local talent – plus birds of prey, pony rides and tractor driving; browse trade stands, buy local produce from Dorset producers and watch student demonstrations.

See the stunning work the floristry students have produced for their circus themed fashion extravaganzas at 2.30pm and 3.30pm on the Main House terrace.

Dog shows will take place throughout the day – everything from Dashing Dog to Golden oldie, and Playful Puppy to Waggiest Tail – there’s something for all shapes and sizes! Registration closes 30 minutes before each class.

For school leavers the open Day is a great opportunity to find out all about the College too – there’s still time to apply for full-time courses starting this September - speak to expert tutors on the day about how you can start your career in the great outdoors.
