IN SEARCH OF STARDOM

Dorford Centre, Dorchester

SHOW business is all glamour, celebrity parties and riches, right?

Wrong, says actress Sue Wylie in her one-woman show that lifts the lid on a career that seems to offer so much with its promise of fame and fortune and yet all too often delivers nothing but heartache and anguish.

Sue takes the audience on a journey that gets off to an uncertain start when, fresh out of drama school and a brief provincial appearance on stage, she gets her first role in a new television commercial - as a germ.

The road to stardom leads her to modest success on stage, radio and television before she settles down to marriage, motherhood and a teaching career in Dorset.

With a keen sense of humour and a refreshing honesty, Sue tells it like it is, the dreams, the disappointments and the ultimate sense of fulfilment as she discovers that happiness lies not in landing that elusive plum acting role but in finding love and a deep spiritual faith.

In a profession noted for its insecurities and failures, Sue shows through her own experiences a wisdom and understanding of the dilemmas facing us all in a show that is touching, revealing and lots of fun.

There is a further performance at the same venue on Friday, November 24.
