BRIDPORT Peace and Justice Group held a well-attended ceilidh at the town's St Mary's Church Hall on Saturday.
Group spokesperson Linda Whitney said 120 people enjoyed the social event and she wished to thank the Bride Valley Band for providing such brilliant music and the volunteers who made the food.
Mrs Whitney said the evening also introduced the group's new 'disinvestment campaign', aiming to persuade Dorset County Council not to invest part of its employees' pension fund in arms companies.
She added that some authorities had chosen to ensure their investment portfolios did not include such businesses; and that the group had written to Dorset County Council to highlight the issue.
The group is a non-politically aligned and non-profit-making organisation and proceeds from the ceilidh will be used to fund future events.
