A VERY pleasant evening of warm, mellow and melodic jazz was performed by the Brighton based quartet. Consisting of Jeff Howlett Sax, John Harris Guitar, Keith Baxter Bass and Ela Southgate vocals.

They used Saturdays full moon, plus eclipse to have a moon theme to the concert "Fly me to the Moon", "Moonlight in Vermont" and a superb rendition of Van Morrison's "Moon Dance" were put across in a quite unique way.

The empathy between musicians, now five years together, manifested itself in a way that the tunes followed effortlessly between the instruments and showcasing some excellent solos.

A rendition of Cole Porters "Love for Sale" was gloriously melodic!

The first set ended with a fluid instrumental called "Tenor Madness".

A couple of high points in the second set were Jorge Ben's "Mas que nada", with a foot tapping Latin tempo and the final number "Coming Home" that had an insistent riff with a RnB feel to it.

A great evening of laid back jazz nicely adorned by Ela Southgates smooth and pleasant voice!
