Upcoming festivals across the UK have been left on a knife-edge with some cancelling altogether - with blame being laid to the Government for after some organisers have complained of a lack of financial support and guidance.

One music festival that has already been axed from this year's summer line-up is Kendal Calling, in Cumbria - after organisers cancelled for the second year in a row due to a 'lack of government guidance'.

Concern was raised after Prime Minister Boris Johnson delayed Phase 4 of England's out-of-lockdown roadmap on June 21 to July 19, which research from the the LIVE trade body said would cost the country's live music industry more than £500 million.

Co-founder of Camp Bestival, Rob da Bank said: "We've been working round the clock with our production teams, safety advisory group, and public and local authorities to ensure Camp Bestival 2021 can take place this summer.

"While the delay in lifting final restrictions means we'll be taking place closer to when the remaining lockdown measures are lifted, we're still confident the festival will go ahead.

"We want to reassure safety is our number one priority, and we'll continue to work hand in hand with the relevant agencies and authorities to ensure the correct safety measures and crowd considerations are in place in order to deliver a safe event."

Other acts currently on the Camp Bestival line-up include Kelis, Becky Hill, Kelis, Friendly Fires, Trainspotting novelist Irvine Welsh and many more acts.

"We're so looking forward to spending four days at Lulworth Castle with you all this summer and we're hoping and praying that we're able to," said Rob da Bank.

"If at any point we are unable to go ahead with the festival then we will ensure that all ticketholders will be able to rollover tickets to 2022 or claim a refund."

Organisers have said more up-to-date information will be released closer to the festival.
