Temporary Closure of Allington Close, Taunton

Somerset County Council in exercise of its powers under Section 14 (1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, propose to make an Order prohibiting all traffic from proceeding along: Allington Close - Closure 1 from outside No 1 to outside No 9 for a distance of 37 metres; and Closure 2 from outside No 141 to outside No 149 for a distance of 55 metres. A total distance of 92 metres. This Order will enable Jurassic Fibre to carry out a rolling road closure to dig and trench an overlay to fit new fibre. The Order becomes effective on 6 January 2022 and will remain in force for eighteen months. The works are expected to commence on 10th January 2022 and last until 12th January 2022 between the hours of 00:00 - 23:59 for a total of 3 days. There is no alternative route for this closure. The works promoter will contact residents and businesses directly to discuss access arrangements.

Statement of Reasons for making the Order
a) because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the road; or
b) because of the likelihood of danger to the public, or of serious damage to the road, which is not attributable to such works.
