11th March 2021 to 10th April 2021

ANNOUNCEMENT OF INTENTION NOT TO PREPARE AN ENVIRONMENTAL STATEMENT Regulation 5 of the Environmental Impact Assessment Land Drainage Improvement Works (Amended) Regulations 1999 S11999/1783
South Perrott Hood Storage Reservoir - Improvement and Maintenance Works
The Environment Agency gives notice that it proposes to carry out improvement works to South Perrott Flood Storage Reservoir (NGR ST 477 063). The proposed improvement works will involve the following:
- Resolving groundwater issues/boggy, saturated ground on the spillway area via an underground drainage system and associated outfall structure into the main watercourse.
- Levelling spillway crest area using kerb-like structure.
- Protection of the top (approximately third) area of the spillway by laying of Dycel revetment block.

As the owners and operators of South Perrott Reservoir, the Environment Agency has a legal obligation to ensure this reservoir is periodically inspected by an independent and appropriately qualified Reservoir Panel Engineer. This inspection has been undertaken and a number of improvements and maintenance requirements have been identified by the Panel Engineer. The Environment Agency is legally obliged under the Reservoirs Act 1975 to ensure these requirements are carried out in a timely manner. The Environment Agency considers that the improvement works are not likely to have significant effects on the environment and does not intend to prepare an environmental statement in respect of them. Ecological walkovers and a number of surveys has shown that there is minimal risk of affecting wildlife in the area. An Environmental Action Plan which mitigates any known environmental issues has also been written and must be adhered to during the works. These environmental reports can be obtained by contacting the project manager whose details are given below.
Any person wishing to make representations in relation to the likely environmental effects of the proposed improvement works should do so, by email, to the address specified below, within 30 days of the date of publication of this notice.
