Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004 The Town & Country Planning (Local Planning) (England) Regulations 2012; Regulation 18:
South Somerset District Council is reviewing the Local Plan that was adopted in March 2015; this review will cover the period 2016 to 2036.
This Preferred Options consultation represents the second formal stage of consultation on the South Somerset Local Plan Review and follows the Issues and Options consultation which took place during late 2017 and early 2018. The consultation period will be from 12 noon 28 June 2019 to 5pm 18 September 2019.
A document has been produced to set out for consultation the Council's proposed strategy for delivering new homes and employment over the period 2016 to 2036, including site allocations and policies against which planning applications will be assessed. The document reflects the latest Government Guidance in the updated National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) and the evidence base produced to support the Plan process. The Local Plan Review will provide us with a refreshed policy framework that will guide and shape development in the District up to 2036.
The issues in preparing a new plan are wide ranging and will involve not just the Council itself, but also many other organisations and individuals. This Preferred Options consultation provides an opportunity to get involved and give your views and comments.
It is vital that as many individuals and businesses as possible respond to this consultation and your comments will be taken into account in evolving the next stage of the Local Plan Review. You are able to view summary leaflets, the consultation document with option maps and the updated evidence base; and find a consultation response form to submit your representations electronically, on the Council's web site at
strategies/planning-policy/local-plan-review-2016-2036 . Hard copies of the document can be seen during normal opening hours in Council offices at Brympton Way, Yeovil and Petters Way, Yeovil and in libraries in South Somerset. Library locations and opening hours can be found here:www.somerset.gov.uk/libraries-leisure-and-communities/libraries/our-libraries/
There will be a series of public drop-in sessions where the consultation document can be viewed and where Council officers will be on hand to help explain how we have got to this stage and answer any queries. These drop-in sessions are as follows:
**See pdf for table of times**
Please be aware that all representations will be publicly available and may also appear on the South Somerset District Council website.
Once the consultation period has ended, responses made at this stage will help to refine the Submission version of the Local Plan Review, that stage will include a further round of public consultation.
