The Rotary Club of Lyme Regis welcomed another new member last week when Bee Painton became a Rotarian.

Bee and her husband Chris are currently the proprietors of ‘Serendip Books’ independent bookshop in Broad Street, having taken over the business in October 2010.

Bee previously worked for Barclay’s Bank in Cheshire and then ran an IT consultancy with Chris, before retiring to East Devon to live near Kilmington.

Chris is a rotarian and past president of the Rotary Club of Axminster.

This brings membership of the thriving Rotary Club of Lyme Regis to 29.

“We welcome Bee to our club,” said Rotary president Mark Tredwin.

“We are confident her enthusiasm, drive and business acumen will be of great benefit to the club and to the wider fellowship of Rotary.

“This is a busy and vibrant Rotary Club, with many activities taking place throughout the year, including fundraising, service to the community and social pursuits.

“We look forward to Bee and Chris joining us in these activities and working with us in the club to further the aims of Rotary.”
