TREVOR Senior is happy with the progress his Bees are making in the Toolstation Western Premier Division.
The Bridport boss has seen his side pick up 12 points from their opening eight league games and is adamant better is yet to come.
He told Echosport: “This time last year we were looking over our shoulders whereas now we are looking up.
“We have taken 12 points from eight games and are currently fifth in the table, so I have got to be happy with that.
“All we need to do now is learn to take more of our chances when they came along. If we start doing that then there is no reason why we cannot keep progressing.”
The Bees were unfortunate not to claim all three points at St Mary’s Field last Saturday.
The hosts outplayed Bristol Manor Farm for much of the contest and deservedly took the lead in the second half when Ryan Dovell headed home via the underside of the crossbar.
They then went on to create a couple more opportunities to grab a second only to then concede an equaliser just 10 minutes from time.
Senior added: “We totally dominated and played really well.
“It was 0-0 at half-time but on another day we could have easily been in front.
“Ryan shot over on 20 minutes following a fine pass from Matt Condliffe and we also had a couple of other chances but we just couldn’t finish any of them off.
“We then came out in the second half and continued from where we had left off with the goal finally arriving through a superb header from Ryan at the far post following a cross from Dan Peart.
“At that stage we looked in complete control and nearly went on to add a second when Ryan, Dan Wise and Chris Luke all combined to tee up Dan Peart, but unfortunately his shot went off target.
“Sam Filkins had hardly had a save to make but then with 10 minutes remaining the ball broke to one of their lads who stuck it in from 12 yards.
“It definitely felt like two points dropped but at the same time I was delighted with the performance.”
This Saturday’s assignment sees Bridport travel to 17th-placed Winterbourne United.
