BRIDPORT have announced seven pre-season friendlies ahead of their 2012/13 Toolstation Western League Premier Div-ision campaign, writes Adam Summers.

The Bees, who finished 14th in the top-flight last season, will host Chard Town (July 10), Lymington Town (July 14), Portland United (July 17), Hillingdon Borough (July 21), Plymouth Argyle (July 26) and Bournemouth Poppies (July 28). They will also take a trip to Dorset Premier League champions Westland Sports (July 24).

Meanwhile, the Toolstation Western League has agreed its constitution for next season and this will be placed before tomorrow night’s AGM in Wells.

With Cadbury Heath and Melksham Town promoted from the First Division, Buckland Athletic promoted from the SW Peninsula League and Winterbourne United transferred from the Hellenic League it was decided to recommend the relegation of both Corsham Town and Sherborne Town to the First Division.

It is further proposed that Gillingham Town also be promoted to give a Premier Division of 20 teams.

The First Division will have three new members with Cribbs Friends Life promoted from the Gloucester County League and Cheddar stepping up from the Somerset County League and Warminster transferring from the Wessex League – with the existing clubs and those relegated this will lead to a 21-team First Division.

The Bees will return for pre-season training at St Mary’s Field on June 26 (6.15pm). Any new players interested in joining the club are more than welcome.
