BEES’ chief Adam Fricker outlined his intentions to improve on Bridport’s current league position by the end of the season, admitting a top-10 spot would be a “massive plus”.

The Bees currently sit 16th in the Toolstation Western League Premier Division – the same place the club finished last season before Fricker arrived in the summer.

Bridport start their fixture schedule for 2017 on Saturday when they host Shepton Mallet at St Mary’s Field (3pm).

Asked what he felt would be a respectable position to finish the campaign in, Fricker replied: “I think, from our perspective, we want to improve on last season.

“Where we are now is where Bridport were. I would not want to finish the season in 16th.

“If we can get to around 12th and upwards we would be happy and I think looking at the league that would be achievable.

“I think a mid-table finish would be an achievement but, if we can get ourselves into the top 10, then that would be seen for us as a massive plus.”

He added: “For us, it’s all about tweaking things ready for next year.

“Next season, hopefully we can go into it with the squad we have assembled and hopefully add two or three new faces to it and have a real good go.”

Fricker is hopeful that influential duo Mark Salter and Ryan Hayter will be fit for Saturday's clash.
