BRIDPORT manager Adam Fricker believes Saturday’s FA Vase clash with Cribbs will be a welcome distraction from their stuttering league campaign.

Now, they get set to take on fellow Premier Division side Cribbs at St Mary’s Field (3pm) looking to get a cup run going.

The Bees sit 16th in the Toolstation Western League Premier Division standings, before tomorrow night’s game, with just one win to their name.

Speaking about the clash, Fricker said: “Like the FA Cup, this is my first time managing in the competition.

“I think it will be a nice distraction for the lads. We have a home draw, and the expectations are that we should proceed.

“It would be nice to bring some money into the club and have a bit of a run.”

Matt Condliffe is set to return for the tie after a spell out with injury, but one player unlikely to feature is fellow defender Kris Hastings.

The Bees received a seven-day approach for the centre-half from Sherborne Town, a team they were set to play tomorrow night, and Hastings has remained non-committal over his future.

Speaking about the defender, Fricker added: “I’ve had a conversation with him and he’s not committed his future to us like we expected him to.

“If he chooses to move on then we wish him well but if he stays then he needs to knuckle down and work hard.”

Hastings is set to speak to Sherborne on Thursday, but Bridport have replacements in the defensive area with Leigh Bailey and Ryan Hayter set to return to the fold soon.
