BRIDPORT Reserves’ manager Shain Annetts feels his young side are capable of giving Bees’ boss Adam Fricker some selection headaches.

After a summer of upheaval at St Mary’s Field that has seen some reserve players head to Lyme Regis, Beaminster and Sidmouth, Annetts is hopeful his raft of teenage talent can prove their worth under his wing.

The reserve manager said: “My job is to produce players that Adam (Fricker) can consider for the first team.

“I would love to see a first XI brimming with Bridport-based players – not that I want to get rid of any of the player that Adam has brought into the club.

“I believe some of those lads can be involved as early as the new year.

“If they can get some Dorset Premier League (DPL) football under their belts, there’s no reason they can’t be slowly introduced.

“They’ve come through the Bridport youth ranks and the likes of Tom Hyde, Callum Middleton and Jake Roland along with others will feature heavily this season.”

Annetts added: “It will be a young side with some key figures bringing experience to the side.”

The reserve side have played three pre-season friendlies so far this season, winning the trio of games and conceding just two goals in the process.

They start their Dorset Premier League campaign on Saturday, August 13 against Wareham Rangers at home.
