BRIDPORT manager Adam Fricker is not concerned about his squad after four of last year’s players have moved to Wessex League Premier Division side Portland United.

Jamie Beasley, Sam Buckler, Darren Watts and Tom Richardson – who was dual-registered with the Blues last season – have followed former coach and interim manager Mark Carter to Grove Corner.

Despite the outgoings, the new Bees’ boss is comfortable with his side heading into his first pre-season at St Mary’s Field.

Asked whether he felt concerned about the departures Fricker emphatically said : “No.

“It’s their decision to move, it’s not my doing.

“We wish them all the best.”

Fricker will be bringing a few players with him from former club Chard Town but he does not feel that those coming to Bridport will be replacing those that are leaving.

He explained: “The players that have left didn’t play too much last season, apart from Jamie (Beasley).

“It’s not a case of replacing like for like, it’s a case of when the players come down from Chard and, with the existing squad, we will start to build.

“I’m not reading too much into things.”

Bridport have only confirmed one player for next season – striker Mark Salter – and the manager is in no rush to add more recruits, instead using pre-season to test out those he is interested in.

“We’re not looking to sign anyone before pre-season, so no-one will be putting pen to paper until June 28.”
