TREVOR Senior has announced that he has parted company with Bridport by mutual consent this morning.

The former St Mary’s Field chief, who was set to step down at the end of the season, has ended his time at the helm prematurely, after a poor run of recent results.

The Bees’ defeat against Brislington on Saturday was their ninth defeat in 10 league fixtures.

“In view of our long run of bad results I felt there was a bit of an atmosphere around the place because, obviously, as far as I know, nobody has got the job,” Senior said.

“The plan really was, when I stepped down, to give them (the club) a chance to advertise and get people in to work alongside me and get to know the players before the end of the season.

“With all the uncertainty, maybe it’s affecting the players on the pitch and I had a chat with the chairman and we have decided to call to a day earlier than expected.”

Club chairman Adrian Scadding added: “Whatever he is going to do in the future I wish him the best of luck. He has been a good bloke to Bridport throughout his 11 years off and on.”

Scadding also confirmed Senior’s assistant Mark Carter has agreed to take charge for the next two games with player-coach Ryan Dovell.
