BRIDPORT 2 WELTON ROVERS 2

BRIDPORT were left to settle for a share of the spoils against struggling Welton Rovers, as the visitors hit back on two separate occasions to seal a point at St Mary’s Field.

The Bees took the lead with 35 minutes gone after a flowing move paid dividends.

Sean Stewart slid the ball into Matt Condliffe, who cut in on the left and played a neat one-two with Mark Salter.

When Condliffe received the return ball he finished confidently to break the deadlock and put the home team in front at the break.

But Bridport were pegged back when Welton’s Lewis Dunn fired home a looping volley with just more than 20 minutes left that Josh Hadley in the home goal could do nothing to prevent.

Back came the Bees through a Jamie Beasley free-kick, which fizzed through a sea of bodies and deflected into the net minutes later to make it 2-1.

Welton were determined not to roll over however and got a share of the spoils when Tom Knighton fired home to level things up once again with a goal that lifted his side off the bottom of the league.

“They were pleased with the point, we were probably disappointed really because in the attacking third our first touch let us down a lot,” Bees’ manager Trevor Senior said.
