BRIDPORT boss Trevor Senior hailed the attacking creativity of winger Jamie Beasley, insisting “as soon as he gets the ball you think something is going to happen”.

Beasley played a big part of the Bees’ 4-2 win at Clevedon on Saturday, causing a threat throughout as well as notching himself a goal.

And, while Senior was away for his side’s weekend win – a victory which ended a three-game losing run – he admitted he has been highly impressed by what the former Weymouth and Dorchester Town man has offered this season.

Speaking about Beasley, Senior, whose side are set to make the trip to Willand Rovers this evening, said: “When he first showed an interest in coming over, which he has done a number of times, he said to me that he wanted to get himself fit and be part of a side in which he is going to be figuring, and not just sat on the bench.

“He took a while to get over his injuries but once he has, he is a danger.

“For all his experience sometimes his positional play is a little bit questionable but, what he gives you going forward, you can compensate for that.

“He has a hell of a left foot on him, is quick and direct and gets some really good crosses in, the sort of crosses I would have liked to have been on the end of when I was playing.

“He has a good goal ratio and he could have had a lot more. As soon as he gets the ball you think something is going to happen.

“He seems to be enjoying it and he is playing regularly, which is what he wanted.”

Striker Mark Salter bagged a brace in the weekend triumph and the Bees’ chief insists he is settling into the squad well following his switch from Street in October.

He added: “Mark has the experience, is a lovely lad and has fitted in really well.

“He has started to get one or two goals now and, from what he was saying on Saturday he should have had at least a hat-trick.

“He is a really good centre-forward for us, he links the play up well.”

Bridport are set to host Cribbs at St Mary’s Field on Saturday (3pm).
