BRIDPORT chief Trevor Senior is hopeful that the Bees can finally end their wait for league action, when they travel to face Shepton Mallet this evening (7.30pm).

The St Mary’s field outfit were thwarted once again by the weather on Saturday, having now not kicked a ball competitively in first-team action for more than a month.

But, with the forecast looking okay for their scheduled midweek fixture, Senior is hopeful of seeing his charges back in action.

He told Echosport: “It looks like the rain has gone. I just hope we don’t get a frozen pitch now!

“It’s got to be in with a chance this one I would think and it would be good to get a game.

“It’s going to be game after game now and we are going to need all the players we have got. The team will chop and change I’m sure as the time goes on.

“They (Shepton Mallet) managed to get a game on Saturday, so they have the advantage of playing already. They have managed to get a bit of football but we won’t use it as an excuse, we will go there with a strong side.”

Striker Warren Byerley is set to be named among the Bridport squad as the postponed games mean his injury problem has cleared up.

Ryan Dovell is also expected to feature after he was denied the chance to get some minutes with the Bees’ reserves last Saturday.
