BRIDPORT ace Ryan Dovell believes the Bees will have the strength to cope with what is looking like a hefty fixture pile up at the end of the season.

The St Mary’s Field side saw another clash at Hallen postponed due to a waterlogged pitch in midweek and have only managed to play one fixture at first-team level in 2016 so far.

Dovell had been sidelined after fracturing three bones in his cheek against Sherborne Town in the Dorset Senior Cup in November but, after getting the all clear to play, has been poised to make his comeback for the first team ever since.

He has only been able to turn out for the club’s reserves on one occasion due to the weather since getting back in training.

Speaking about his stuttered return, the Bridport player-coach said: “It’s been highly frustrating.

“I just have to start again really and I’m looking forward to finally getting to play a few games.”

On the fixture washout as a whole, he added: “It’s not just been frustrating for myself but for everybody pretty much all the way through the league.

“We just have to keep training, keep trying to stay fit, and hope that the next game is going to be on.

“Generally we have a fit enough squad and when we start playing, everyone enjoys playing.

“I think two or potentially three games a week shouldn’t be a problem – to get that match sharpness back will be a bit of a struggle at first but everybody throughout the league will be in the same situation.”

* The Bees will bid to get back in action on Saturday when they are scheduled to host Cribbs (3pm).
