BRADFORD TOWN 1 BRIDPORT 3

BRIDPORT’S win at Bradford Town on Saturday was probably their best of the season so far, according to boss Trevor Senior.

Strikes from Mark Salter, Jamie Beasley and Matt Condliffe took the Bees to their sixth league success this term.

And the three points made up for those the club lost when Winterbourne United withdrew from the Toolstation Western League Premier Division last week.

Senior was delighted with the way his men handled the difficult conditions and how they again took their chances in front of goal.

The three strikes on Saturday took Bridport’s tally to seven in their last two league outings after four against Hallen.

“I was really pleased with the way we played,” said Senior. “Everything went to plan and it was probably our best win of the season.

“We lost three points in the week when Winterbourne pulled out so it was nice to get those back.

“I went with a slightly more attacking midfield and it worked, and we kept our shape well in tough conditions.

“We played some really good stuff, especially in the first half.”

Bridport went ahead as early as the sixth minute when the Bradford keeper spilled Condliffe’s cross and Salter pounced.

A lot of the Bees’ attacks again went through Beasley and his dangerous deliveries from out wide caused the hosts problems.

But Town equalised against the run of play on 28 minutes, Neikell Plummer firing into the top corner past Ashley Weeks.

However, it only took seven minutes for the Bees to regain the lead.

Beasley combined with Tom Richardson before the former’s shot took a wicked bobble over the Town gloveman.

Senior’s charges had the ball in the Town net again before the break but Warren Byerley’s effort was ruled out after Salter was adjudged to have fouled his marker.

A vital tackle by Sam Buckler early in the second period prevented the hosts from drawing level once more, while at the other end Condliffe shot wide when well placed.

Condliffe deserved a goal and he got one in the 67th minute, stabbing home after a cross had been parried.

Town did have claims for a penalty turned down when the ball appeared to strike Chris Clarke’s hand but Bridport were worthy winners.
