A HEAD injury to Bridport’s Jamie Symes overshadowed their 3-0 defeat at Melksham Town on Saturday, when at one point Bees’ boss Trevor Senior admitted he “feared the worst” for his player.

Symes had to receive treatment and was taken off after receiving a blow to the temple midway through the second half.

He recovered but then suddenly collapsed in the dressing room during the manager’s post-match team talk.

Luckily, the Bridport man regained consciousness while an ambulance was called and is now back home.

Senior told Echosport: “We got back in the dressing room after the game. I was summing up the performance and his eyes had dried up, I thought he was just bored with my team talk, and the next minute he collapsed in a heap on the floor.

“I have to be honest, at one stage we were all fearing the worst. He was literally out cold and not responding at all.

“All credit must go to our physio Lloyd Green and their physio, who was a paramedic as well.

“Luckily, his dad, grandad and brother, who obviously plays for us, were there so they went off to hospital with him.

“Everybody pulled together and the good thing is he is okay.”
