BRIDPORT captain Ryan Hayter has made it abundantly clear where his team needs to improve if they are to get anything out of Saturday’s clash with Hallen (3pm).

Defending set-pieces better and finishing off goalscoring opportunities will be the main priorities for the Bees after two points were thrown away at Bishop Sutton on Tuesday night.

The visitors seemed to be on course for successive Toolstation Western League Premier Divis-ion victories when Ryan Dovell’s brace and a brilliant finish from Jamie Filkins gave them a 3-1 half-time lead.

But two late goals, the second from the penalty spot with virtually the last kick of the match, saw Bridport pegged back to 3-3 – midfielder Chris Luke was also sent off.

Hallen were ninth in the table before last night’s home game against Radstock Town and have had a decent season so far, including a run to the latter stages of the FA Vase.

And Hayter is keen for his team put things right before the trip to Bristol this weekend.

“We need to work on defending set-pieces,” he said. “They have always been a bit of an Achilles heel for us.

“We need to improve on those and on putting away our chances – we need to be more ruthless in front of goal.

“Hallen got to the fifth round of the FA Vase and they’ve always had a very strong side.

“I’ve never got a point playing them away, but we drew with them at home at our place and they didn’t look like the side they used to be.

“But to get to the fifth round of the Vase is a massive achievement and it’s going to be a really hard game for us.”

On Tuesday’s draw, he added: “We dominated the game throughout and deserved to win.

“Everyone was disappointed after because it felt like a defeat.

“We created a lot of clear-cut chances and should have been out of sight, but we didn’t put them away.

“They had three chances and put them all away, and their last two goals were from corners which were really badly defended.

“Before the last two games, if someone had offered us four points we would have taken them, but we should have had six.”

The Bees had gone into their midweek fixture on the back of a 2-1 win at Hengrove last Satur-day.

Tom Richardson’s double gave them their first success since December 7.
