BRIDPORT RESERVES 0 PORTLAND UNITED 2

ROBIN Townsend will be looking for a marked imp-rovement from his side when they host Portland United again this Saturday (3pm).

The Bees were dumped out of the DPL League Cup by Gary Bailey’s troops at St Mary’s Field last weekend, with Townsend disappointed by his team’s lacklustre display.

Lewis Clarke was at the double for the Blues as the islanders marched into the semi-finals of the cup and a meeting with Mere Town.

Luckily for Bridport, they only have a few days to wait for the league encounter and a chance to put last Saturday’s defeat behind them.

“Take nothing away from Portland, they deserved to go through,” said Townsend. “I was a little bit disappointed with our performance.

“We didn’t create anything and our defending for the first goal let us down – we looked like we were going through the motions a bit.

“We were a bit better in the second half and felt a little hard done by with the second goal, which we felt was two or three yards offside.”

He went on to add: “Hopefully we will give them a better game on Saturday.

“I would like to think we will give a better account of ourselves and I’m hoping we cause them a few more problems.”
