THE recent wet weather is continuing to wreak havoc at St Mary’s Field with this Saturday’s visit of Melksham Town the latest clash to be under threat.

The Bees lost two games to the adverse conditions last week and have played just seven times at home in all competitions so far this season despite being almost four months into the campaign.

Bridport boss Trevor Senior said: “I texted the groundsman and apparently the pitch is still under three foot of water down one side so it is going to be doubtful for Saturday.

“Apparently there is a problem with the drainage behind one of the goals. He believes the drains may be blocked, which isn’t helping, and we are going to try and get the council to have a look at it.

“There is also supposed to be some colder weather coming in at the end of the week which could result in some frozen pitches, so all in all the forecast does not look good.

“It is frustrating but all we can do is just wait and see what happens.”

To make matters worse for the Bees, they also saw their Dorset Senior Cup quarter-final tie at Poole Town postponed last night. The game has now been rescheduled for Tuesday, December 4 at Tatnam.

The Bees currently sit fourth-bottom in the Toolstation Western Premier Division, just four points above the bottom two.
