MICHAEL Hailu and Jamie Fry were the stars of the show as the Bees bounced back to form with a 4-0 victory at Pennys Lane.

Following the previous week’s disappointing draw with Poole Borough, Robin Townsend called for a response from his players and they more than delivered to move up to fourth in the Magna Dorset Premier League table.

The Bridport second-string boss said: “The performance the week before was unacceptable and we spoke about that before kick-off and how we wanted a reaction and I am glad to say we got one.

“We started off quite brightly and had a great 20-minute spell where we knocked the ball around well and created a lot of chances.

“We eventually got our rewards when Tristan Gale opened the scoring but for some reason we then took our foot off the pedal for the remainder of the first half which allowed them to come back into it.

“They probably deserved to make it 1-1 as well but Jamie Fry pulled off a top-drawer save and Adam Steele cleared an effort off the line from a corner to keep our lead intact.

“At half-time we then told the lads to go back out and put it right and eventually came away with a 4-0 result, which was fantastic.

“Michael Hailu made it 2-0 after a melee in the area and also went on to grab the third with a fine header from Carl Bulman’s cross.

“Chris Symes then went on to continue his recent fine form for the thirds by turning in Jack Scovell’s ball with a diving header to wrap things up.

“It was 100 times better than the previous week and there was even time for Jamie Fry to save a penalty late on after what looked like a harsh decision against Harry Fleet.

“Hopefully we can now go on and build on this result by putting together a good run in the weeks ahead.”

The Bees’ next assignment is a trip to Dorset Senior League side Kingston Lacy on Satur-day in the second round of the Dorset Senior Trophy (1.30pm).
