BRIDPORT 29 OAKMEADIANS SECONDS 0

BRIDPORT made a dream start to the season with a commanding victory over Oakmeadians Seconds.

After seeing their opening-day clash at Bournemouth Thirds postponed, the Blues made up for the disappointment in fine style.

Sean Stewart, Mike Pib-worth, Harry Clark and Wes Lewis all touched down at Brewery Field with the latter adding two conversions and a single penalty to complete a 29-0 triumph.

Delighted skipper Ricky Stubbs said: “It was exactly what we were after.

“We always give ourselves a target of trying to control the game and from the off they did not manage to get in our half until close to half-time.

“We put them under constant pressure and we scored four tries in total.

“We wanted to get the bonus point and we managed to do it by scoring four tries. We also managed to avoid conceding any points so everything looks pretty positive right now.”

The Blues will look to record back-to-back wins in Dorset & Wilts One South when they entertain Warminster this Saturday (3pm).

Stubbs, whose opponents have so far suffered successive defeats, added: “It will be another good test for us but hopefully we have got a bit of momentum going now.”
