BRIDPORT can take inspiration from Dorset & Wilts One South rivals Blandford when they cross swords with league leaders Ivel Barbarians this Saturday.

Ricky Stubbs and his troops enjoyed a walkover against Salisbury Seconds last weekend but the game of the day was taking place in the market town where the team at the top of the table came a cropper.

Mid-table Blandford, who had conceded 50-plus points to the Barbarians earlier in the season, defied their league position to edge a pulsating encounter this time around, 26-24.

It remains to be seen how the Barbarians will react to that when they make the journey to Bridport this Saturday (2.30pm) but suffice to say the team’s coaching staff will demand a response.

It will be up to Stubbs and his players to add to their weekend woes and inflict another defeat on the Barbarians, who beat them 52-7 earlier in the campaign.

Bridport Seconds could not raise a team to play Swanage & Ware-ham Fourths so will try again this Saturday when they go to North Dorset Fourths in Dorset & Wilts Four (2.30pm).
