A MIXED set of results has left brothers Eddie and Josh Moore with plenty to do to stay in contention for National Series honours.
Round six took place at Chesterfield at the weekend on a track that is notoriously quick and renowned for thrills and spills.
Nine-year-old Eddie began impressively finishing second behind British champion Kye Whyte in the opening moto and he repeated this position in the two following heats, behind Louis Grey-Blast and Jack Warcup respectively.
However, had it not been for some premature showboating down the final straight in the third moto, the whizzkid would have bagged a first place leading into the final, but as it was, Eddie was overtaken and had to settle for his third runner-up spot of the day.
Three second places became four in the semi-final, finishing behind Peckham's Luca Premoli but all in all this marked a satisfactory build up to the final for the young racer.
Eddie looked to have the advantage following a great snap out of the gate but he got out of shape going over the doubles and slipped to fourth at the first turn.

This is how it remained but at the final bend he risked an audacious manoeuvre to overtake Grey-Blast but slipped and was consigned to last place.
Elder brother Josh, 10, fared slightly worse than Eddie in the motos recording a second and third place in heats two and three after crashing in the opening race.
He got off to a superb start in the final but British champion Reece Brownson got to the turn first and Josh lost momentum, slipping down the field.
With Brownson, Paddy Sharrock and Tom Novis ahead, Josh had places to make up but try as he might, the promising biker couldn't improve his position and remained in fourth spot in a group that was a long way clear of the other trailing competitors.
Consistent riding from Josh sees him further stabilise his fourth spot in the series, 40 points ahead of his nearest rival, while Eddie is also fourth but only has a tenuous nine-point advantage over Grey-Blast.
The brothers have a week off before they return to racing in a fortnight's time with round six of the South West Series at home track Tiverton, but any advantage they had has been lost with the revamped track hosing its inaugural South West Series event.
