Delapre race is back at West Bay
THIS year sees the reintroduction of the traditional West Bay Harbour race, known as the Delapre, on September 1 at 6.34pm.
The race is a shorter race within the harbour walls for younger competent swimmers who are 13 years and under by September 1.
The closing date for entries is August 26. As the race is weather dependent there is an alternative date for the race, which is September 9 at 12.30pm.
The Blackbuoy Cup Sea Race will take place on Sunday, September 9 at 11am from West Beach, West Bay.
The race is a ‘Bridport mile’ (1,200 metres) from a standing start on the beach to a marker buoy and back again.
Entrants must be competent swimmers, able to swim 2,000m (60 lengths), and should be local residents of Bridport and surrounding villages or a member of local Bridport Swimming Clubs.
The minimum age for participants is 14.
Alternative dates for the event, for which entry closes on September 2, are September 16 (1pm) and 23 (11am).
