BRIDE Valley Archers had a successful day at the Bournemouth Blue Lion Tournament.

Twelve juniors from the club competed, shooting Windsor rounds (36 arrows at each of three distances), with it being the first competition for nine of them.

County record scores were achieved by Hannah Corfield (longbow), Jason Larcombe (longbow) and William Bilbe-Smith (barebow).

Corfield and Reuben King-ston also won the overall longbow team trophy ahead of the bowmen of Lytchett and Bournemouth Archery Club.

Daniel Wilkinson and Kingston have also competed in the English Field Archery Championships in Somerset.

Both shot well to claim under-12 titles in barebow and longbow respectively.

Bride Valley results Under-10 boys’ Barebow (20/15/10 yards): 1 William Bilbe-Smith 497, 2 Daniel Corfield 373 Under-10 girls’ Recurve (20/15/10): 2 Annabelle Grother 629 Under-12 boys’ Barebow (30/20/10): 1 William Stazicker 777, 2 Magnus Osborne-Marshall 503, 3 Joe Thompson 440 Under-12 boys’ Longbow (30/20/10): 1 Reuben Kingston 609 Under-14 girls’ Barebow (30/20/10): 1 Belle Osborne-Marshall 475, 2 Jess Hobbs 440 Under-14 boys’ Recurve (40/30/20): 2 Ben Eve 618 Under-16 girls’ Longbow (40/30/20): 1 Hannah Corfield 227 Under-16 boys’ Longbow (50/40/30): 1 Jason Larcombe 95 Kingston also travelled to Pentref in Wales for the UK Junior Field Archery Champ-ionships, where he successfully retained his under-12 longbow title.

He was also a member of the England team who finished second to Northern Ireland in the Home Nations international.

The next major event for the club will be the Dorset & Wilts County Championships at Devizes on August 25-26.
