National triumph for super Sewell

BRIDPORT’S Roxanne Sewell has been crow-ned the British and Southern champion.

The Matt Fiddes School student was among a number from the town that competed in the British and Southern Championships.

And Sewell, from the ladies’ only class, triumphed in the point stop sparring for lower belts and holds the bronze in kickboxing drill.

Ash Herron also claimed the British title and retained her Southern Champion title for the third year in the higher belted point stop sparring category.

Tyler Nottley achieved fourth place in hand and kickboxing drill and Cade Adams achieved fourth in sparring at the competitions, which were held in Portsmouth.

Instructor Lucy Fear said: “The students showed great enthusiasm, skill and dedication and represented their school with honour.

“I am immensely proud of them all and look forward to the next championships.”

Children’s (six to 11yrs) and ladies’ only classes (from 12yrs upwards) are held at the Sir John Colfox School every Tuesday. If you would like a free taster session, contact Lucy Fear on 07809 482461.
