SIR John Colfox hosted this year’s “West Big Swing” Tri Golf tournament, with over 300 children participating.

Schools from all over West Dorset turned up to play in the School Games level two competition for a place at the finals, to be held in June.

Thirty-two teams took part from Lyme Regis, Beaminster, Bridport and Weymouth primary schools, all showing off their golf skills throughout the afternoon.

Each team competed at eight golfing stations, with a timed skills challenge, collecting points along the way.

The stations were run by leaders from The Sir John Colfox Academy and supported by golf professional Mike Dodds. There were over 320 children taking part and 70 leaders helping on the day.

Overall winners, again this year, were Symondsbury, who will now compete at the Dorset School Games finals at Bryanston School on June 20th, along with the highest-scoring teams from each area, Salway Ash, Conifers and Marshwood.

Other schools taking part were St John’s, Bridport Primary, St Mary’s Academy, St Michael’s, Powerstock, Beechcroft, Thorners, Parrett & Axe, Broadwindsor, Holy Trinity, St Catherine’s and Burton Bradstock.
