AFTER a couple of postponements due to bad weather, Bridport & West Dorset men were finally able to play their March Medal.

The weather was fine for the time of year and the players responded by carding some low scores – there were four nett scores in the 60s.

The three leaders in Division Three all came in with sub-70 scores the winner being Steve Battrick scoring a nett 64.

All three received handicap reductions.

The winner of Division One was Dave Smith with a score of nett 66 also earning him a handicap cut.

Terry Cleal was the top man in Division Two after countback scoring a nett 70.

The man losing out after countback was Marlon Donovan who also had his handicap cut.

RESULTS

Division One: 1 Dave Smith (77-11=66), 2 Mike Savage (77-7=70), 3 Lewis Craddock (78-7=71).

Division Two: 1 (acb) Terry Cleal (87-17=70), 2 Marlon Donovan (85-15=70), 3 Mike Vincent (84-13=71).

Division Three: 1 Steve Battrick (87-23=64), 2 (acb) Ian Pincombe (94-25=69), 3 Marc McMaster (92-23=69).

Veterans’ Section

AFTER yet another weather-related interruption the veterans played on Thursday and the competition was a three-man team Bowmaker.

Twelve teams took the field and the winning side was that of Marcus Beresford (14), John Harper (25) and Roy Gill (13) with 74 points.

In second place, three points adrift, were Dave Howat (17), Chris Roberts (22) and Bob Dennis (21) scoring 71 points.

Just behind them in third place with 70 points were Lawrence Turner (21), Dougie Howells (20) and Peter Mowat (16).

In the afternoon, there was a home match against Cricket St Thomas which Bridport won 4½-1½.

Ladies’ Section

MEMBERS played a match between the lady captain, secretary and the treasurer’s teams last week with the secretary winning, writes Lyn Jessopp.

The previous Saturday the ladies played a flag competition which Judy Waters won reaching just short of the 16th green just before the snow arrived.
