LYME Regis Bowls Club men did themselves no favours in their bid to avoid the drop in the Championship League.

The team lost all 10 points at Poole Park and so need a minimum of two points in their last game against Bridport.

Lyme Seconds had a good 8-2 win against Wellworthy A, which guarantees them promotion into Division One next season.

The ladies went one better by taking all the points on offer when they played Wellworthy on their own green.

There's still plenty of work to do for the ladies but, those 10 points have eased things a little at the bottom end of the table.

In the friendlies, it was played three won one.

On Sunday, 28 club members played for the Pelman Cup.

This is men and ladies up against each other in a three-wood singles, all players playing to their handicaps.

In often miserable conditions, there was some extremely good bowling.

Some of the club's newer bowlers put the frighteners on some of the more experienced players, several games being decided on an extra end.

The final was contested between Ann Allman and Barry Rattenbury, the latter defending his title from last year.

The weather really turned during this game and by the end there was standing water.

Rattenbury made the most of his chances and, after a shaky start, managed to close out the game to retain his title.

Special mention must be made of Geoff Clode who marked throughout the day including the final.
