IT'S BEEN a much better week for Lyme Regis Bowls Club's league teams.

The ladies and both men's teams all managed to secure eight points against West Moors, Wimborne and Bridport B respectively.

In the two friendlies, Lyme won against a tour side from Congresbury but lost against Cardiff away in the annual fixture.

The ladies hosted their annual Invitation Triples Tournament, their 21st, which attracted 22 teams who took part in a round-robin format. Despite inclement weather, all the teams had a thoroughly entertaining afternoon followed by a two-course lunch prepared by catering officer Sue Wood and her band of helpers.

The eventual winners were Broadbland, a team made up of players from Broadstone and Blandford, winning by 9-4 against Honiton.

This event is sponsored by members Nola Stephens an Lesley Broom.

The club also hosted the Silver Jubilee Cup, a men's game between Lyme and invited clubs.

The visiting clubs this year were Seaton, Sidmouth, Chardstock, Bridport and Ottery St Mary.

The eventual winners were Chris Elmore, Mike McAlpine, Alan Henson and skip Steve Pomeroy.
