BRIDPORT Ladies A took the maximum eight points in a fine 37-29 victory over Bournemouth in the County league.

Francis Hewett, Millie Meech, Laura Taylor and Pat Cornick won 17-13, while Pamela Daters, Lyn Craddock, Margaret Pestelle and Sue Walsh scored a three count in the final end to win 20-16.

Bournemouth did however get their revenge, winning by three overall in the County Knock-Out Cup.

Daters’ great season continued as she reached the area final of the National Singles, while Bridport’s Mixed Friendlies’ side managed to throw away an eleven shot lead with just three ends remaining, to finish the game 76-75 down.

Sharon Heath, Brian Parker, Gerry Moss and Derek Earwood had a superb 28-7 win, while Bernard Perry, Penny Pither, Robin Pither and Mike Fletcher made a meal of their win, allowing the opposition to fight back with seven shots over the final three ends leaving the score 20-16.

Chris Thorner, Les Heath, Erica Sarson and Brian Pratt also finished poorly to lose 30-15, while Sylvia Fletcher, Brian Suffling, Kevin Rendell and David Jenkin lost 23-12.

Bridport’s Sandra and Mel Hargett, and Lyn and Peter Sandall came home smiling after winning the trophy for the week’s top team at Potters Resort.
