GRANT Gerrard’s score was the highlight of the Bridport & West Dorset Golf Club’s men’s January Medal with a nett score of 62 on Sunday afternoon.

Conditions were ideal for all of the 68 taking part with some spectacular scoring and numerous handicaps reductions on the day.

Gerrard, in Division Two, achieved a gross score of 76 which was just one short of the lowest gross of the day achieved by Division One winner Gary Edwardes.

The score has seen Gerrard’s handicap cut to 11.6 and awards him a promotion to Division One. Doug Miners took second place in the division with a respectable nett score of 68.

Scores were a lot closer in Division One with Edwardes nett of 64 beating Marc Harwood by just one stroke, while Barry O’Mahoney scored 67.

Don McAllister won Division Three with a score of 64, while Nathan Dunford won promotion to Division Two with a handicap reduction.

THE conditions were not replicated in the third round of the Winter Shield as a chilly Thursday afternoon took its toll on the 48 competitors.

A bitterly cold first hour affected most of those who took part, but seemingly not George Brown or Jimmy Gbadebo who achieved 40 and 38 points respectively to lead the way in Division One.

Both achieved a one-shot handicap cut as a result.

In Division Two, Mark Kelson took the title with a points tally of 34, while Dave Buck- land was runner-up with 33 points.
