THREE Bridport Barracudas recorded impressive results at Regional Meets at Hengrove and Millfield.

Henry Wyrill, Nathan Moorey and Harry Stewart competed at Regionals over two weekends in May. The Regional swimming Championships take approximately the top 50 swimmers for each race from Dorset, Devon, Cornwall, Gloucestershire, Somerset and Wiltshire.

The swimmers have to gain a qualification time to enable them to enter so it was great for the Club to have three swimmers reach this level.

Competing at his first Regional meet, Harry Stewart qualified for the 50-metre breaststroke and came 19th in a hugely popular event.

Nathan Moorey had six races and qualified for the final in the 50m fly and came sixth. In the 100m fly he came 10th and 200m fly,15th.

His 100m freestyle he finished 19th and in the 50m freestyle, 45th.

In the 50m backstroke he came 35th. Nathan achieved five personal best times.

Henry Wyrill had 10 races and qualified for three finals in 200m, 100m and 50m backstroke.

He had a fantastic swim and took the bronze medal for the 50m backstroke.

In his other backstroke races he came 14th, 17th and 16th.

He came 17th in his 200m individual medley and for his 50m freestyle, 28th, and 100m freestyle, 20th.

Henry achieved 10 personal best times.

These were all great results for the swimmers and shows that their 9.5 hours training a week is really paying off.

They are fortunate enough to be able to train with other clubs on the evenings that Barracudas do not have training.

Henry trains with West Dorset Swimming Club in Dorchester and Nathan trains with Tornadoes in Portland.
