LYME Regis boosted their FRESHA Devon & Exeter League Division Two promotion hopes with an 8-0 thrashing of Hemyock on Saturday.

Four goals from Joe Bond, a hat-trick from Julian Simier and a strike from substitute Tyrone Ruth capped off a dominating display from the away side.

The victory moved them on to 46 points in the league, four clear of Chulmleigh and University Thirds who sit in third and fourth respectively.

The pair face off tonight in a clash that, if the result goes the Seasiders’ way, could see Lyme Regis promoted on Saturday.

Something which is not lost on their boss.

Manager Rob Thom said: “It is looking good for promotion. If results go our way then we may only need a point on Saturday against Cullompton Rangers Seconds.

“But if we can pick up three points then we would pretty much secure the third place needed to see us go up.”

“We will have two or three players back for Saturday’s game which is a positive for such a vital game.

“The main thing is we still have the momentum behind us and it is all in our hands.

“Hopefully we can have promotion wrapped up before the last game of the season, which will take the pressure off of us.”

After their visit to Cullompton, the Seasiders conclude their season at Davey Fort against promotion contenders Exmouth Town Seconds.
