IT WAS the May Medal for the men on Sunday and 62 started on a cloudy morning with a chilly breeze.

Eight no-result cards were handed in and for some reason four of those were out of the 16 players in Division One.

The nett winning scores in all divisions were in the 60s, the best being a 68 from Patrick Harper in Division Two where Grant Gerrard was runner-up with a nett 69. Kevin Jones won Division One with a nett 69 and Stuart Prince topped Division Three with the same score.

RESULTS

Division One: 1 Kevin Jones 77-8=69 (lowest gross), 2 Marc Harwood 83.12=71, 3 (acb) Lewis Craddock 83-11=72.

Division Two: 1 Patrick Harper 83-15=68, 2: Grant Gerrard 83-14=69, 3 Bryn Dare 85-14=71.

Division Three: 1 Stuart Prince 90-21=69, 2 Tony Burwood 93-23=70, 3 Richard Parry 90-19=71.

Harper and Gerrard received a one-shot handicap cut.

Veteran’s Section

THE veterans had a home match versus Lyme Regis on Thursday so the competition was a self-entry single division Stableford and there were 46 starters.

The morning was fine and dry with a cool breeze, good conditions for golf.

Despite this no one came in with an exceptional score but there were some good scores a long way down the list and all very close.

There are five prizes in this competition and the man who headed the list was winner Mike McGrady with 38 points edging Dudley Rose into the runner-up spot by one point.

RESULTS

Winner – McGrady (16) 38 points, 2 Dudley Rose (28) 37, 3 (acb) Peter Mowat (15) 36, 4 Mick Kelson (24) 36, 5 (acb) Bob Dennis (21) 35.

The home match against Lyme Regis resulted in a convincing win for Bridport 5½ - ½.

Ladies’ Section

SATURDAY saw members play for the Committee Cup in reasonable conditions if a tad chilly.

Division One: 1 Julie Oliver 87-14=73, 2 Toshiko Ricketts 98-16=82, 3 Liz Thompson 106-21=85.
