COLFOX’S Year 10 side lost in the final of the Area Cup to the Thomas Hardye School 3-1 at the Avenue Stadium.

The team were appearing in their fourth consecutive Area final having beaten Budmouth narrowly 2-1 in the semi-final. That game was won in the dying minutes by a 30 yard spectacular half volley from James Cox.

They were playing Hardye in the final for the time in their history and the first half was very even with chances falling to both sides.

Colfox keeper Grant Rist was called into action a few times and up the other end George Wyrill put a header wide from close range in the opening exchanges.

Then after 15 minutes, the county town striker, who was the difference on the day, cut through the Colfox defence and coolly finished his first of three goals.

His second game just before half-time.

Midway through the second half, the striker cut loose again and scored his third to make the game beyond any real doubt.

With five minutes remaining Colfox played their best bit of football of the final with Jaydon Brown combining with Navin Vij on the edge of the Hardye box.

The ball was cut back for Alfie Norman to make it 3-1 and set up a lively final five minutes but it was too late and the game deservedly went to their opponents.
