THE Bridport & West Dorset Golf Club Sunday competition for the men was a 16-hole four-ball betterball Stableford off full handicap, writes Peter Crowter.

The weather was fine and sunny but with a cold wind and 30 teams competed.

The scores were very good and very close but the winning team of Pat Hart (13) and Lewis Craddock (10) with a score of 41 points, won with a two-point margin.

In second place after countback were Don McAllister (20) and Barry O’Mahony (11) with 39 points.

Finishing third was the team of club captain Ian Kearley (13) and Mike Vincent (12), also with 39 points.

Fourteen men took part in the 16-hole midweek Stableford and Robin Ormsby (19) and Rod Condliffe (19) both scored 30 points to take the two top places with Ormsby triumphing after countback.

William Davison (22) was third with 29 points.

Veterans’ Section

MEMBERS had better luck for their latest Thursday competition after last week’s cancellation and the weather was fine but there was a cold wind.

Twenty-two teams turned up to compete for the Luton Ladle, a greensome Stableford played this year over 16 holes.

The winners by just one point were Dougie Howells (19) and Terry Kearley (21) with 32 points.

Runners-up were Richard Fox (19) and Mick Kelson (24) who carded 32 points.

Colin Clark (24) and Richard Parry (19) were in third place with 30 points.

Ladies’ Section

THE sun shone on Tuesday and the ladies enjoyed a hidden partner Stableford, writes Di Neal.

Some good close scores were recorded but unless your hidden partner also scored well you were not in the prizes.

The winners were Viv Gill and Eleanor Butler (39 points on countback) from Roseanne Bonfield and Pat Baldwin (39pts) and third was Sally Woolmington and Wendy Newton (38pts).
