WINNING scores over all three divisions of the men’s Sunday Stableford at Bridport & West Dorset Golf Club were incredibly close – but, in the end, it was Grant Gerrard who emerged victorious with the best total of the day.

Forty-nine players took part in the event and the weather overhead was dry, although unsurprisingly it was very wet underfoot.

Six players scored 33 points, including the top three in Division One, with Barry O’Mahony finishing first, Dave Franks second and Lewis Craddock third.

However, in Division Two, Gerrard went one better with 34 points, while Stuart Gay, with 33, topped Division Three.

RESULTS

Division One: 1 (acb) Barry O’Mahony (11) 33pts, 2 (acb) Dave Franks (10) 33, 3 Lewis Craddock (10) 33.

Division Two: 1 Grant Gerrard (14) 34, 2 (acb) Toby Eeles (15) 33, 3 Martin Drennan (13) 33.

Division Three: 1 Stuart Gay (22) 33, 2 Andy Webbe (21) 31, 3 Rod Condliffe (19) 28.

Just seven men took part in the Wednesday Stableford and for a 16-hole competition the scores were high.

William Davison was at the top of the list with an excellent 37 points, second was Martin Drennan with 35 and third was Bryn Dare with 33.

Bad weather once again put paid to the veterans’ competition.

Captains’ Drive-in

MEMBERS enjoyed coffee and light refreshments prior to the drive-in and luckily the decision was made to have a group photo before the heavens opened.

Both captains drove off the 18th and David Dowling and John White won prizes for the nearest guesses as to the lengths of the drives, each winning a bottle of spirit.

There was a raffle and together with the money from the distance guesses, £168 was raised for the joint charities.

Considering the weather and the fact the course was closed this was an excellent result.

About 50 members supported the drive-in as new club captain Ian Kearley and the new lady captain Pat Baldwin got their stints underway.
