BRIDPORT ABC head coach Alan Slaney has made another plea for help to run the club.

With around 30 members now on the books, Slaney says he is struggling to cope and needs assistance.

The experienced coach insists anyone who would like to get involved is encouraged to contact him directly or attend one of the club’s training sessions.

“I need help big time,” he said. “Male or female, any age, anyone is welcome to give it a go.

“If they are prepared to come and help and then want to take it on I am willing to put them through the relevant courses.

“The club is big in terms of numbers now and I just can’t manage it on my own.

“If anyone is interested they should come down to Bridport Youth Centre on a Tuesday, Thursday or Sunday, or they can ring me.”

He went on to add: “If I can get someone in now they can have a year with me and be able to coach the boys.

“I’d like them to come in and get used to everything and meet everybody.

“I’ll start off by showing them the basics and then go on to pad work and bag work.

“When we go to shows they’ll have that bit of experience behind them and they can then come into the ring with me to see what I do.

“I need people who want to put the work in and get to know the boxers.”

Tuesday and Thursday training starts at 7pm, Sunday sessions begin at 10.30am, and Slaney is available on 01308 425108.
